[Breaking News] "Functional Cure" for HIV Patients may have been discovered.

A group of French scientists have declared that there may be a "functional cure" for individuals diagnosed early with HIV. According to Reuters, these patients who are diagnosed early and treated quickly have a high shot at being cured!

In a study published by the journal PLOS Pathogens, 14 HIV-Positive Patients received fast post-infection treatment and eventually ended therapy. 7 years after stopping all therapy, it was discovered that the virus showed no signs of rebounding.

Asier Saez-Cirion, a French researcher, told Reuters the results,

"May hold important clues for the development of a strategy to cure HIV or at least induce a long-term control without the need of antiretroviral treatment."

We can only hope that this is accurate and that a cure has been found!!
