Washington D.C’s WUSA asked viewers if it should stop covering the embattled actress. The answer was a resounding yes.
Is it time for news organizations stop chronicling the foibles of Lindsay Lohan? The news director and viewers of a Washington D.C. CBS affiliate have answered that question with a resounding "yes!"
I'm thinking about banning all #LindsayLohan stories @wusa9
Soon the WUSA Twitter account retweeted the question, asking for viewer feedback, which resulted in some colorful—and rather vulgar—responses. “yes please *blank* Lindsay” one woman tweeted. Another requested the station also stop covering “that K” family (did she mean the Kardashians?). "A blank screen would be more thought-provoking!"
While D’Ambroisi tweeted that he sometimes wonders if Lohan’s legal woes are newsworthy because “she keeps getting away with it,” he ultimately decided to put a stop to her stories.
OK. Due to popular demand, we just killed the :20 #LindsayLohanstory in @wusa9 @5. The people have spoken!
But the news director assured viewers that doesn’t mean all pop culture pieces will be barred, citing the phenomenon that is PSY’s “Gangam style,” as a story that still will have a home on the station.
Lohan's recent turn as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's Liz & Dick received poor reviews but drew 3.5 million viewers during Sunday's premiere.
She next appears in the Bret Easton Ellis indie film The Canyons and will also make a cameo appearance with Charlie Sheen in Scary Movie 5.
