It's not: bad breath, wearing the wrong outfit, wondering if she thinks he's cute, if the date location is "perfect," ordering the wrong drink/meal, or any number of other miscues.
According to Yahoo Shine!, the one thing guys get nervous about on a first day is… conversation. What to talk about, talking too much, saying the wrong thing, and the flow of the conversation were the top responses from guys.
On this subject, I kinda feel for guys. We don't have the number of magazines, talk shows, or resources that women have full of "do's and don'ts." We turn to other guys whose advice could be more harm than good. As a public service, I did a little recon (searching for "What To Say On A First Date" articles for Women online) and came across these talking points: avoid sports conversations, unless she initiates it and is actively interested. Pay her a compliment! That's a cue to start some small talk. Don't talk about previous relationships, your ex, or breakups - especially on a first date. Do ask about her day but try to keep away from making the conversation a "work vent session."
How do you get "first date" conversation going?
