Poughkeepsie Pioneers bring class A title back to Dutchess County

The Poughkeepsie High School Boys Basketball team are champions again.

On Saturday, the Pioneers won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class A championship, beating undefeated Pittsford Mendon, 69-59.

This is Poughkeepsie's first championship since 1995, and according to the Poughkeepsie Journal, this is the first time a boys basketball team has won a state title in Dutchess County since 1999, when Millbrook won.

Next up, the Poughkeepsie Pioneers play Fredrick Douglas Academy in the Class A Federation Tournament in Glens Falls, NY this weekend.
